If today was your last day…. would you live it differently?
Not many of us like to think too much about our own mortality.
But every now and again we get a reminder which forces us to at least consider it.
In recent years I started a men’s football team. It is basically a pub team which I founded in 2015 for local lads.
For me personally it was always about much more than a sports club. It was a place where young men could come together, get away from the stresses of life for a moment, and have a place where they belonged.
It was a club first and foremost. The football was secondary. (Though I’m not going to lie, I can be very competitive and I do love winning).
In the short space of time since the amateur club has been going we’ve had well over a hundred players make appearances for us. I’ve made amazing friends who will last me a lifetime.
And sadly I’ve lost some too.
Over the past week I learned about the tragic passing of another young player. A young lad who I only saw in a pair of boots a few weeks ago, has now hung his boots up forever.
That particular morning he prepared to go to work in his usual way with no idea what was ahead of him. Before his shift was finished his whole life was over due to a freak accident.
So sad. And definitely one of those moments where life doesn’t feel fair.
The truth is, none of us know how much time we have. Or what is around the corner.
We simply have to live the very best we can.
Making plans for the future, while enjoying every day along the way.
So I want to ask you a question this morning.
Are you living on purpose and loving every day?
Never waste an opportunity to say ‘I love you’, or a moment to experience real joy. Make every day count.
What are you going to do today to make today special?
Decide to have an awesome day!
