Belief will change my world

Belief will change my world

Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I shall have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it, even if I may not have it at the beginning.

This week I was speaking with a great friend of mine, Reg Lenney. Reg is routinely called upon by the rich and famous, with a wealth of A-Listers, professional athletes, and members of the Royal family endorsing his services.

We were recording a podcast together (which I suggest you keep watch for, as it was absolute fire), and during the interview he flipped the script back on me and challenged my own world.

“Do you really believe it Dean?”

Reg was adamant in his conviction that belief really will change worlds. And intellectually I know for a fact he is right. But here’s the thing.

Even if you KNOW that all you have to do is simply BELIEVE that you can be, do and have, whatever you want – can you just believe that easily?

This is one of the challenges of the human mind that we all face. It’s not enough to intellectually believe something. We need to really embody that truth. And only when we REALLY do believe in our potential, can we see the results that we’re seeking.

How do you know whether you really believe?

This is a question I’ve heard a great deal this year as I’ve been actively working on my own paradigms. And surrounding myself with people who are equally committed to their own growth.

Having worked on your paradigms and beliefs, how do you know whether you’ve made progress?

The purist answer is through your results of course. As when you REALLY believe in yourself the achievement of the intended result(s) will be the perfect confirmation.

But what if the shift starts BEFORE the full result is manifested? How will you spot the signs that you’re on track?

I posed this very question to Reg and he didn’t even skip a beat. He just reminded me to continually audit my actions, behaviours, and habits.

What you DO will perfectly illustrate what you BELIEVE.

And it never lies.

Have you ever audited your own daily activities?

This is an extremely eye opening exercise. And be prepared for it to not be comfortable if you ever give it a go.

You hear people say all the time that they believe in themselves to achieve big results. But when it comes to it their habits, and daily actions, suggest otherwise.

Maybe you know people that just KNOW they’d be great at building their own business. But would never take the risk of jeopardising their current employed role?

Or people that believe they have what it takes to become a top performing athlete? Yet it’s just never the right time to start training?

Or perhaps they’ve got their vision boards up, and write their affirmations daily, detailing the material things they’d like to have? However, they are hanging onto the old items that would need to make way for their arrival?

What you DO on a daily basis confirms what you truly believe.

Belief will change your world

As my own awareness is growing I’m under no illusion around how much work I have to do for myself. I’m far from perfect. But everyday I’m growing, and getting better.

Which leads me to share what prompted Reg to ask me if I believed it. If I really believed it that is.

I’m at a stage of my life where I’m looking for a new family home. Like many people I have a desire to live in a better property, with more space, in a great location, that is fully decorated/ furnished in a way that really makes me love being home.

I’ve thought about this home a LOT!

The realist inside me recognises that you need a certain level of resource to secure a new property. Primarily with regard to having the money of course, though many more factors may come into play depending on the kind of home you have in mind.

Straight away my mind fleets toward savings plans, managing the possibility of arranging new schools, assessing the current housing market, and the logistics of actually packing up and moving out.

Immediately there is a lot to do in my head, and it’s all going to take time to get everything organised and ready. In fact, I’m thinking it could take a while.

What if I told you, you could achieve all that as quick as tonight? – Reg Lenney

I gave myself away with the pause that followed when that question was directed right at me.

If you believe it you could Dean. But do you believe it? Do you REALLY believe it?

And of course, he had me. He was completely right and he knew it.

As much as I believe whole-heartedly that it CAN be done, I didn’t REALLY believe that I could secure my dream home that fast.

I mean, what are the chances there is even a home like that vacant right now? Let alone, whether I could align all the relevant resources to finalise the deal?

But imagine if I DID believe it?
